オックスフォード英語辞典っつーものは、単に言葉の意味を解説した辞典ではなく、その語・意味・フレーズの由来と初出を明記した辞書であります。東京外国語大学の解説を読んでくれ。タコヤキなんかが収録されたそうだ。
最近の話題だと、シンガポール、マレーシアから新語が収録されたニュースが出た。"Alamak"は驚いた時の間投詞。
単語ばかりでなく、複合語も新しい意味が出れば収録される。みなさんご存知のフィッシュ・ヘッド・カリー、ハーフボイルド・エッグも収録
"fish head curry" – "a dish influenced by Chinese and South Indian cuisine, consisting of a large fish head, usually of a sea bream or snapper, cooked in a tangy tamarind-based curry gravy with vegetables such as aubergine and okra"
"half-boiled egg" – "an egg which has been cooked briefly in freshly boiled water such that the yolk and the white remain runny, then cracked open and served in a bowl, seasoned with dark soy sauce and white pepper"（わたしは知らなかった）
で、以上だけなら、日本語からのタコヤキ、オコノミヤキと同じような話題だが、ちょっと驚いたこと。元々のOEDのサイトで3月収録の新語を見た

なんと、次の語が初収録なのだ。ラテン音楽に多少とも興味がある人なら、とっくにご存知の用語だ。今どき収録されたのが驚きだ。英語世界とラテン音楽世界の隔たりは、こんなに大きいのか？
